Graph Colouring Algorithm for Validating Labelled 2D Line Drawing Objects
نویسنده
چکیده
Line labelling has been used to determine whether a two-dimensional (2D) line drawing object is a possible or impossible representation of a three-dimensional (3D) solid object. However, the results are not sufficiently robust because the existing line labelling methods do not have any validation method to verify their own result. In this research paper, the concept of graph colouring is applied to a validation technique for a labelled 2D line drawing. As a result, a graph colouring algorithm for validating labelled 2D line drawings is presented. A high-level programming language, MATLAB R2009a, and two primitive 2D line drawing classes, prism and pyramid are used to show how the algorithms can be implemented. The proposed algorithm also shows that the minimum number of colours needed to colour the labelled 2D line drawing object is equal to 3 for prisms and 1 n − for pyramids, where n is the number of vertices (junctions) in the pyramid objects.

A Graph-Based Method for Face Identification from a Single 2D Line Drawing
ÐThe faces in a 2D line drawing of an object provide important information for the reconstruction of its 3D geometry. In this paper, a graph-based optimization method is proposed for identifying the faces in a line drawing. The face identification is formulated as a maximum weight clique problem. This formulation is proven to be equivalent to the formulation proposed by Shpitalni and Lipson in ...
متن کاملNew Results in Graph Layout∗
A track layout of a graph consists of a vertex colouring, an edge colouring, and a total order of each vertex colour class such that between each pair of vertex colour classes, there is no monochromatic pair of crossing edges. This paper studies track layouts and their applications to other models of graph layout. In particular, we improve on the results of Enomoto and Miyauchi [SIAM J. Discret...
متن کاملAchieving Good Angular Resolution in 3D Arc Diagrams
We study a three-dimensional analogue to the well-known graph visualization approach known as arc diagrams. We provide several algorithms that achieve good angular resolution for 3D arc diagrams, even for cases when the arcs must project to a given 2D straight-line drawing of the input graph. Our methods make use of various graph coloring algorithms, including an algorithm for a new coloring pr...
متن کاملDrawing Planar Clustered Graphs in 2.5 Dimensions
Clustering techniques have proven to be useful in reducing the complexity of large networks. We present a method for drawing a clustered graph in 2.5D, given the clusters of the graph are connected in a planar way. The main contribution is to develop a weighted version of the well known 2D straight line drawing algorithm of de Fraysseix, Pach and Pollack [5] for planar graphs. This version allo...
متن کاملDrawing trees and triangulations with few geometric primitives
We define the visual complexity of a plane graph drawing to be the number of geometric objects needed to represent all its edges. In particular, one object may represent multiple edges (e.g. you need only one line segment to draw two collinear edges of the same vertex). We show that trees can be drawn with 3n/4 straight-line segments on a polynomial grid, and with n/2 straight-line segments on ...
